CANADA LINE STATIONS

Richmond’s seven Canada Line stations are: YVR-Airport, Sea Island Centre, Templeton, Bridgeport, Lansdowne, Aberdeen and Richmond-Brighouse. Trips from YVR to Richmond stations take just a few minutes while going from the airport to downtown Vancouver takes around 25 minutes.

YVR-Airport, Sea Island Centre, and Templeton Station are on Sea Island, where Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is located. Trips to the three Sea Island stations from Richmond, Vancouver or beyond are charged at standard transit fare rates. Trips from these three stations includes a $5 AddFare fee that is automatically added to your fare.

FARES

Trips from YVR-Airport, Sea Island Centre or Templeton (the three Sea Island stations where the airport is located) to Richmond, Vancouver or beyond cost up to $15.50 (for a DayPass); this includes a $5 AddFare fee that is automatically added to your fare.

Trips to the three Sea Island stations from Richmond, Vancouver or beyond are charged at standard transit fare rates and do not require the $5 AddFare.

Fares are based on a three-zone map, typically rising in price depending on how many zones your trip covers. Reduced concession fares apply to people over 65 years old; youth aged 14 to 18 (with photo id proving age); and children aged 5 – 13 (kids under 5 always travel free). A single fare is valid for 90 minutes after purchase on bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus routes.

Single fares vary from $3.00 ($1.95 concession) to $5.75 ($3.95). Fares are lower if using a Compass Card (see below).

Many visitors also like to buy TransLink’s convenient DayPass for unlimited travel across the entire transit network for a whole day; it costs $10.50 or $8.25 concession ($15.50 or $13.25 concession if purchased on Sea Island).

Tip: Trips between Templeton station (location of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet) and YVR-Airport station are free. Scroll the onscreen options at any of the three Sea Island station ticket machines and select the “Sea Island Only” option.

TICKETS

Canada Line uses the Compass ticketing system, comprising single-use paper tickets or stored value plastic cards called Compass Cards. You can buy these at station vending machines, paying via cash, credit, or debit. With the exception of exiting a bus, you then “tap” your ticket or card on a small terminal when you enter or exit public transit —“tap in and tap out.” You can also opt to *tap to pay at the terminal.

If you purchase a Compass Card (for a $6 returnable deposit), you can load stored value online or at any ticket machine. Compass Cards can be used on all transit services and their stored value fares are set at lower rates than single-use paper tickets.

*You can now tap to pay with a contactless Visa or Mastercard credit card or mobile-payment method on card readers to pay your adult, cash fare. Card readers will not accept debit cards. If you’re already using a Compass Card, no worries! Keep using it to ensure that you are receiving the maximum discounted fare.
